Top 5 GW13 FPL Picks

In this article, we give our top 5 GW13 FPL picks and identify which players could return big FPL points.

Before that we need to review the performance of our GW12 FPL picks:

  • Salah: 8 points (1 goal)
  • Maddison: Injured
  • Hazard: 3 points
  • Ozil: 1 point
  • Sterling: 2 points

Well, not much to say about the returns from our GW12 Picks. All about the bounce back ability and we think that these players can deliver the points this weekend.

Here’s our GW13 picks:

Richarlison (£6.9m) has enjoyed a great start to the season, scoring 6 goals in 10 matches including 1 assist. Since his move to the striker role he has scored 3 goals and seems to be Silva’s first choice in that position, replacing the woeful Tosun.

Everton face 18th place Cardiff at home this weekend, looking for their 5th league victory at home. Everton have the 5th best home record while Cardiff have the joint-worst away record along with Fulham. Having conceded 11 goals already away from home, and an average of 15 shots conceded per match, there will be goal scoring opportunities for Richarlison.

GW13 is also proving to be a difficult week for stand-out captain options, with many of the top 6 teams playing away, along with the London derby between Spurs and Chelsea. Richarlison could prove to be a great differential captain pick for those struggling to choose, especially for managers chasing in their mini-leagues.

Doherty has been one of the FPL value picks of the season. The Wolves man has seen his price tag increase to £4.9m since the start of the season, originally being priced at £4.5m. In the opening 8 game weeks he had returned 3 double digit point hauls, including 1 goal and 2 assists.

In recent weeks, Doherty has not replicated his early season form, with Wolves not keeping a clean sheet since GW8. Doherty though has continued his attacking threat, registering 7 shots and 8 key passes in the last 4 game weeks.

Wolves play Huddersfield at home this weekend, a team who have only scored 4 goals in 5 away matches. They have also conceded 14 goals in these matches, so we think this is a great opportunity for an overdue haul from Doherty.

Fulham have been underwhelming this season, and now see themselves bottom of the Premier League. The sacking of Jokanovic and appointment of Ranieri may be the inspiration the team needs to begin climbing back up the table.

Schurrle (£5.9m) is one man who we think may thrive under Ranieri and return some points in GW13. Schurrle has the 2nd most shots per game of any midfielder this season, already scoring 4 goals. We have already chatted about Schurrle as part of our top FPL budget picks thread (click the tweet below to have a read).

Fulham face Southampton at home and will see this as a great opportunity to get their first win since GW3. The Saints have one of the worst away records, winning only 1 on the road and conceding 13 goals. The stats are slightly skewed however due to their 6-1 defeat at the hands of Man City.

They are also conceding over 14 shots against away from home, and we fancy Schurrle to take advantage of this. Although Southampton will be no walkover, we fancy Fulham to grab the victory after some newly found motivation, and Schurrle to be at the spearhead of this.

Sane (£9.2m) was one of last season’s FPL performers, however seems to have gone under the radar so far this year. He has been at the hands of Pep’s rotation, having only played 500 minutes, comparing this to Sterling (858), Mahrez (560), B.Silva (960) and D.Silva (832).

Although being restricted to limited minutes, Sane has returned attacking points in every game that he has started, including a 14-point haul in GW11. He has scored 2 goals and registered 5 assist this season.

It seems that Pep has been hesitant to play both Sane and Mendy together, however a recent injury to the Frenchman may play as an advantage for Sane.

City play West Ham away this weekend, who come into the match off the back of a draw against Huddersfield.

Surprisingly, City have only scored 9 goals in 5 matches away from home, a stark contrast to their 27 in 7 matches at home. West Ham meanwhile have a decent defensive record at home, conceding only 7 goals in 6 league matches.

We fancy Sane to start this match with the absence of Mendy, and against Zabeleta, we can see Sane having some real joy throughout.

Martial (£7.5m) has been in the headlines over the past few weeks about his FPL value after his goal scoring form. The Frenchman has scored 6 goals and 1 assist in his last 5 league matches, seeing his price rise by £0.3m over this time.

His stats have suggested an improved goal threat, taking 13 shots and 9 key passes over these 5 league matches. Arguments suggest that he is over preforming, with his expected goals only being 2.45 compared to his actual 6 goals. However, we think that even though he is over preforming, his stats suggest that he is becoming a constant goal threat throughout matches and therefore at his price tag, is a great FPL option.

This weekend United face Palace at Old Trafford. Palace’s away record has been a lot better than their home form, winning 2 of their 6 matches. The away defensive record has also been impressive, only conceding 9 goals in these games.

Aside from this, we fancy Martial to continue his hot scoring form and be the leading man in United attack. Due to the lack of obvious captaincy options this weekend, he also has a case to be a captaincy pick for GW13.
