In this weeks Q&A article, we are joined by FPLPrince who is sharing his thoughts on the questions asked by you ahead of GW12.
In case you missed it, check out our GW11 Q&A article with special guests LetsTalkSoccer and FPLHeskibo. We discussed the value of Lacazette, the best budget FPL players and whether Bournemouth assets are still worth buying.
1) Is Maddison still worth keeping in FPL teams?
I think if you have Maddison its worth keeping for one final game. He was unlucky to not get an assist in the last game and Burnley at home is too good of a fixture to turn down. After that look to move on…
Maddison (£6.9m) has been one of the highest transferred out players ahead of GW12, following his recent FPL returns. In fact, Maddison hasn’t returned in his last 4 matches, the last time coming against Newcastle in GW7.
We can see why managers are selling the Leicester man, however we think that he can still produce some decent FPL points in the coming weeks. It doesn’t seem like his form has affected his playing time, still starting every league game this season.
In his last 4 matches, he has taken 8 shots and 11 key passes suggesting that he is still creating plenty of chances for the team. We have discussed further about Maddison and his value in our latest article, comparing him with the in-form Martial.
Leicester face Burnley this weekend, and we would recommend at least holding him for that game week. They still have great fixtures coming up and at his price we can’t see many better options apart from Richarlison.
2) Is it time to sell Mitrovic?
I have Mitrovic myself and actually think he’s a victim of his own early success. Despite this, Fulham have looked really poor in the last few games. If you don’t have Arnautovic he’s the obvious move to bring in. Wilson and Jimenez are also good options.
After another blank against Huddersfield, it seems that the question is not whether to sell Mitrovic, but instead, who for. He has 0 goals and only 1 assist in his last 5 matches, playing in a Fulham side who are struggling for form.
Currently valued at £6.9m and the highest sold player for GW12, we would recommend selling him ahead of his game against Liverpool. If you have the money in the bank, the obvious transfer would be Arnautovic who has gone upto £7.1m after his goal last weekend.
3) Do Wolves’ defence still offer value?
Doherty especially is one player you should keep. His attacking stats over the season are nothing short of brilliant! He’s posting similar numbers to Alonso so he’s not a player I think you should be look to moving on. Again he was unlucky to have an assist wrongly ruled offside at the weekend.
I think options like Bennett still provide good value due to his low price. After the Arsenal game, Wolves have two good fixtures against Huddersfield and Cardiff so I’d keep for now.
Between game weeks 4-8, Wolves defence became the value picks of the season, keeping 4 clean sheets out of 5. At their budget prices, defenders Doherty and Bennett proved to be popular picks, with the former returning 3 double-digit points over this period.
It seems however in recent weeks the defence has been leaking goals and suddenly doesn’t look as strong, conceding 6 goals in 3 games. Wolves face Arsenal this weekend and we don’t fancy them to get any more luck against the Gunners.
However, we don’t think it’s worth selling your Wolves defensive assets just yet, with Huddersfield and Cardiff the upcoming fixtures in GW13 and 14. Especially for Doherty owners who have value tied up in the player, we think you should hold the defender till at least GW14, and assess after this period.
